**Wednesday, February 19 - Mr. Johnson came in to read to us and our book buddies for our "I Love to Read" month.
**Friday, February 21 -We will be taking a field trip to the Albany Dental Clinic. We will be there for a short visit, but we always see and learn a lot on this field trip. **Thursday, February 27 - Black Out Day. Please remind your child wear any black or space related apparel for the I Love To Read theme. Encourage your child to continue reading each night. The only way to get points is to take AR tests or turn in the reading logs that your child has to fill in. Hope all is well and remember to keep reading to your child and have them also read to you! They are all becoming such GREAT readers. We had a blast sledding today on such a beautiful winter day. We all went down the hill many times, so that means we climbed up the hill many times too! *Students with June birthdays will be celebrated as their 1/2 birthday in December. Look for the slip coming home with the day we will celebrate. *Christmas Party: Friday, December 20th. Some students will bring home slips to bring in treats and others will bring slips to bring in games from home to play. Some students may have both slips coming home. The treat slips came home already and the game slips will come home on Tuesday. * Math: Dominoes (paper ones) will be coming home this week. They work well for practicing math facts and playing games. If you have a set of dominoes, have your child use those. *Christmas Photo cards: Feel free to send one in with your child if you have an extra. Here are a few updates: *No School Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. School resumes Monday, December 2. *No spelling test this week. *Speak-up: Bring/Tell about something you are thankful for. A Speak-up sheet will come home today. Speak -up will be tomorrow! (11/26/19) *No Christmas gift exchange in our classroom. *Please check out the pictures tab for some new pictures. We did our shelters for the Three Little Pigs. The pictures are of the students working. Check out See Saw for the final house! You will have to ask if their house was blown down by the big bad wolf. *Please continue to read the homework sheets & small copied reading books with your child. On the backs of reading worksheets there are also fluency pages and games that are great to play at home. It's also very helpful to continue to read any type of literature TO your child each day. Thanks so much!! I am THANKFUL for all of your children! Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! *Winter gear: Please label your child's snow pants and any other gear that's possible. It's also appreciated if your child has an extra pair of gloves and a hat in their bag or locker.
Please make sure your child brings shoes for in the classroom and PE each day. *Telling Time: We are currently working on telling time to the hour and will begin telling time to the half hour soon. For time on the half hour, we say "half past six", etc. most often, but also introduce "Six thirty". Digital time will be introduced much later in the year. We are also busy working on Frames and Arrows in Math. See if your child can show you what they are. *Writing: We are busy writing stories this week. We have been talking about the many versions of The Three Little Pigs. Your child will come home with their story next week. We will also put it on SeeSaw. *SeeSaw: Today I will send home directions on how to be connected to your child's digital portfolio called SeeSaw. We'll add to it in various ways throughout the year. Connection to the portfolio is optional. * Picture retake day- Wednesday, October 30.
*Vet visit -We had a great time learning about the life of a veterinarian. The students were able to listen to the heartbeat of a cat and dog, look through the microscope, and identify animals being x-rayed. Check out the pictures! * Pumpkin explorations - It was a lot of fun measuring, weighing, and counting! Check out the pictures! Thanks to those who donated pumpkins and those who helped with the explorations. *Halloween party -Just a reminder that your child can bring their halloween costume to school in a bag. They will put it on in the afternoon before our party and then bring it back home again in their backpack. If your child is bringing in treats, feel free to send them at any time. Have a great last week of October and Happy Halloween! *No spelling or Speak-up this week.
*Play Field Trip on Oct. 22 to the Paramount Theatre: Please bring a cold lunch to eat when we return unless you ordered one from the lunchroom. *Lake Country Vet: We will be walking to Lake Country Vet Clinic on October 23 in the morning. Please dress for the weather. Permission is covered by a form from the beginning of the year for trips in Albany. *Pumpkin Carving: We will be doing a pumpkin carving activity on October 25. We are looking for a few pumpkins. If you have one to donate, please let me know. Thanks! *We will be having our Halloween Party on Thursday, October 31. Students can bring costumes to parade around the school. Treat notes for the Halloween party will be coming home today if your child is on for treats for the Halloween party. We have 8 students who are bringing treats for Halloween. If you do not see a treat note, your child is on for one of the other parties this year. Thanks! Have a great day! |
