Math: Please continue to practice: *Number writing and identification *Identifying and counting nickels and pennies *Simple addition and subtraction problems *Numbers before or after a given one or two digit number Reading: Please continue to practice: *Letter identification, sound, and writing them *Sounding out CVC words (consonant-vowel-consonant, ex. bit, tap) *Rereading the paper books sent home I am amazed at how much progress each child has made already! Thank you for all of your additional support at home. Your children have worked so hard and continue to come to school with such a positive attitude. I am so happy to be their teacher this year!

Halloween Party Details:
*Students can bring costumes to school on Friday, October 30 *We will not be going into other classrooms to parade through with our costumes on *We will not be allowing students to bring any treats from home (food or non-food items) to share this year Picture Retakes: *Tuesday, October 27 Reading: *Remember to practice the sight words, spelling words and fluency words and sentences on the weekly practice sheet. A new sheet will come home each Monday. Keep all of the sheets for review and extra practice. Math: *We will be counting pennies and nickels this week. Here are a few updates: * Speak-Up: No speak-up on this short week. We will start up another Speak-Up next week. It will come home next Monday. *Wednesday, October 14: "At Home Learning Day". The packets will come home tomorrow night (10/13). Please return the work on Monday (10/19). *Thursday & Friday, October 15 & 16: No School *Spelling Tests: These will begin next week. The words will come home on Monday's and the test will be on Friday's or the last day of the week. Things are going well in the classroom and the kids are adjusting to the changes. Thanks for all your help. Wednesday, September 30: At Home Learning Day: Today I will send home work for the At Home Learning Day. In order to be counted present for that day, you'll need to return the completed work on Thursday. There is a cover sheet that explains the work they need to do tomorrow. Please let me know if you have any questions. Fridays: "Purple Pride" Days. Wear your Huskie clothing or purple/black/white if you'd like. Yearbooks: You can order online at JostensYearbooks.com or turn in money to the Albany Elem. School office with your order. Make sure you have your student's name and grade on it. They are $15.00 each. This information is also listed on our district website, under the Albany Elementary tab. Books Orders: I will be sending one home at the end of the week. It will be due back on Wednesday, October 7. 1st Grade News:
The first day of school was so much fun! I bet everyone will be tired tonight. The kids were troopers. *Please check your child's purple Huskie take home folder daily for important information. If you need to send a note to school, please put it in this folder as I check them each morning. Please remind your child to bring this folder back and forth daily. *If your child has a change in his/her regular afternoon routine, please send a note or call the office. If you email, please email a couple of days in advance because I often don’t get to my email until after the school day is over. *Please note that we will not have snack time this year due to our lunch time. Free breakfast is available everyday starting at 7:45AM. *Every Friday is school spirit day! Dress in ‘Albany Huskies' clothes or purple & white. Here go the butterflies........... 5/21 All 5 are out today! 5/20 Can you find 4 butterflies today? 5/19 2 butterflies are here! 5/18 Will there be butterflies soon? There are 5. They will stay in the cup and eat the food that is at the bottom of the cup. I will take pictures throughout the life cycle and we will see how they grow and change. Fact Family Triangles- Sent home this week with a note about how to use them. Please encourage your child to practice them daily to help memorize math facts. Spring Pictures- Wednesday, March 18 Report cards- Home on Thursday, March 19 with your child. Lux String Quartet- Thursday, March 19 they will be performing for all students Spelling test and Speak Up- These will both be on Thursday, March 19 No school- Friday, March 20 for teacher professional development. Rock Your Socks: It is time to ROCK YOUR SOCKS! Join us on Thursday, March 19th to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day! The actual event is taking place on 3/21 but since that is not a school day, we will do our own ROCK YOUR SOCKS on March 19th. Wear your craziest socks and show your support. |
